Arowana farm harvesting visit - GML
The farm - GML
The place where the brooder lives, protected by fans, nets
The sign that show how aggressive the fish is (Just to scare of the children)
The Boss of the farm, telling us the history of the farm & his stock (Fish). According to his estimate of cost of running the farm, ie. $2m "wow!!!"
The royal guard of the farm. Barking no stop when we near the gate to the heaven of Arowana
The photographer of the day & is not a easy job I said
The harvesting process begin, 1st the net to surround the pond in order to catch the brooder

The boss when into the pond himself to lay net. I wonder how many boss will do that?
Waiting waiting & waiting
Waiting waiting & waiting
I call the shot as "Model of the day" Want to know why?
Cos, the path is very shaky when he walk, so all of us actually waiting for him to fell into the pond. And at the moment, all camera is on him. haaaaaaaaaaaa
Next, pull the net higher to prevent arowana to jump out. Which I saw of one them jump across the net even is already very tall up. But my skill is not up to the standard so no photo to show :(
Checking for male arowana with babies. Surprise right? The male one will keep all the egg in his mouth till their children able to be swim by it own. The female job here is to lay egg & that all.
The owner have to force open the mouth of the male arowana to retreive the youngs. During the period of holding the children, the male will not be eating until the children are able to swim (is around 2 months). Touching right?
The harvest - a bag of gold
Why harvest? As the success rate is low in nature (ie when the father fish release the children, other fishes, birds will eat them) So in account term of view, the best is to put them in tanks so is protected.
The nursery (the secret place of arowana farm), so we are lucky that the owner allow us to visit. This is the place where the "gold" will be formed
The little ones that have just harvested. They are still in their egg sac and still not able to swim
This is why people like arowana. Look at the 2 pictures below you will know what I means. The "Gold" & "Red"
Hope you like it.
